Activity Toys

Activity toys are so helpful when it comes to raising puppies and keeping active, intelligent adult dogs happy. Activity toys teach dogs to play independently, as well as to problem solve.

Here are a few I really like:

If you are only going to get one activity toy, this is it! You can fill it with innumerable combinations of food to keep it novel and satisfying.

I recommend purchasing several, and in one size up from what you think you will need.

This one is a favorite of many dogs. I especially like this one for stronger dogs, who enjoy using their paws.

This thing is awesome! You can use it as an activity toy with some peanut butter or wet food (try sticking it to your fridge door or diswasher). But, you can also use it to help with grooming, like the dog in the photo uses it for bath time!

This is another licking-type activity toy. My dogs seriously love these things so much. I just spread some canned wet food on them, and they will spend so much time licking out every last drop!

These snuffle mats are amazing. I find that dogs are very calm after eating a meal via their snuffle mat. Most dogs love these mats, but I especially love them for shy dogs, gentle dogs, and the senior crowd.

These are great for fast eaters, but I also like them for enrichment. You can sprinkle kibble with a few treats thrown in the mix for a faster version of the snuffle mat above. You can also use wet food in this, which I like to do as well!

Other Ideas

You don’t necessarily need to purchase something new for activity toys. Muffin tins, old Amazon boxes, and freezing treats in ice can make for really fun activity toys using things you already have around the house!
